I was very disappointed to hear that the breast screening service in Swanley had been removed, with local women being asked to travel to Bluewater. It is simply unacceptable for such a lifesaving service to be moved in this way - and a suitable venue in Swanley must be found.
I want to reassure residents that I have raised the issue as a matter of urgency with the Chief Executive of the Medway NHS Foundation Trust . And, I would like to thank County Councillor Perry Cole, District Councillor Sarah Andrews, and Sevenoaks District Council leader Cllr Peter Fleming who have also raised their concerns.
The latest is that Sevenoaks District Council are currently discussing with the Trust new possible locations and I am hopeful there will be a positive outcome. I will provide an update as soon as I know more.
