I am delighted to announce that this week’s Community Hero is the wonderful team at 'Community Meals - Delivered' in Westerham.
An idea originated by Mark Mountjoy, Chairman of the Trustees of Westerham Hall, and made possible due to Ian Sharp and Tania Martin of The Courtyard – Community Meals supplies fresh microwaveable meals to those in Westerham and nearby who have either been advised to self-isolate or might be in need of a such a service.
Distributed by a team of around 20 volunteers, the first meals (50 free Sunday lunches) were delivered on 29th March, and the scheme has now grown to 500 meals a week.
The determination and ambition of the team is wonderful to see. It demonstrates perfectly the strength of working together and is a worthy winner of our Community Hero of the week award.
I will be speaking to Mark later this week, to thank them for all their hard work. Their story will also be covered in print as part of our Community Heroes partnership with the Sevenoaks Chronicle, so do please pick up a copy on Thursday to find out more.
Applications remain open, so if you know of any individual or organisation who deserves recognition please either visit my website, or email laura.trott.mp@parliament.uk.
