As some of you may have seen, there are currently some local post boxes which are out of service and have been wrapped in black plastic.
I was as confused as many of you; however I have now spoken with Royal Mail who have informed me that the post boxes are temporarily out of use as part of a planned rollout of 3,500 new post-boxes across the UK.
The new design will allow for customers to send letters and return labelled parcels - up to the size of a shoebox – and they hope they will be operational again within the next eight weeks.
I know this will be inconvenient in the meantime, and I have asked for them to be in use as soon as possible, but information on alternative ways to post items can be found here https://www.royalmail.com/services-near-you.
I have also asked Royal Mail to add signage on the closed post boxes to explain they are being upgraded, and not permanently removed from service.
I do hope this is helpful, and I will keep you updated.
